Singapore – a Little Jewel in Asia

I visit Singapore when I am traveling for one of my dive trips to Indonesia. Singapore is a small country (735.6 km2) and I usually explore it on foot, once I have travelled from the Airport to the city center via Taxi.

My go to hotel when I am staying in Singapore is the Pan Pacific Hotel. It is in a great location, close to everything, and reasonably priced for the quality of room and service I receive. I do not book the meals with the room because the Pan Pacific is near a shopping center and there are numerous places to grab a quick bite before heading out into the city.

Singapore is set up to cater to tourists – many restaurants, multiple light shows at night, and shopping centers with air conditioning for relief from the heat. Here are a few highlights from my visit to Singapore:

  • The Garden Rhapsody light show presented in the Gardens by the Bay.
  • A Food and Night Tour – I had a chance to sample some incredible hawker dishes.
  • The Singapore Airport – there is a butterfly garden and a water vortex.
The Pan Pacific Hotel is right off the Marina and close to everything.
Singapore is the busiest port in the world in regards to shipping tonnage.

If this is your first time in Singapore, then head to the Long Bar in the Raffles Hotel and treat yourself to a Singapore Sling.
The Merlion – half-lion, half-fish created in 1964 to reflect Singapore’s maritime heritage and fishing village origin.

The Marina wakes up at night with a light show to music
